Obituary for Grace Ann Tucker
Mrs. Grace Ann Morgan Tucker (age 78) entered into eternal rest and peace on June 8, 2021 in her home after a period of declining health. Born in Dewitt, Va. on October 4, 1942 to Joseph and Geraldine Morgan, Grace Ann was the second born of six children and is preceded in death by her parents, eldest brother, Joseph Jr and baby sister, Jean. Grace Ann was married to Lewis Tucker, Sr. for 45 years until his death.

Ann, as she was simply known by many, was educated in the public school system of Dinwiddie County and was a graduate of Southside High School. She loved the Lord and at an early age was baptized and became a member of Mt Calvary Baptist Church until marriage brought her to Blackstone, VA and Poplar Lawn Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess and senior choir member. Ann was employed for a number of years with Seward Trunk & Bag Company (the world's largest trunk manufacturer) before moving to Central State Hospital, from which she resigned in 1992 and took on home health care for a number of years.

Known for her love of bingo, her holiday potato salad and rolls and a tendency to break into a gospel hymn at any moment, Ann was also a nurturing spirit, having raised not only her own children but also stepping in to help care for her siblings' children and her grandchildren as well as acting as a foster parent.

Ann leaves to cherish her memory: three devoted children, Sandra Tucker Shaw (James), James Tucker, Sr. (friend, Sylvia) and Pastor Lewis Tucker, Jr. (Stephanie); two sisters and one brother, Sylvia Morgan, Ida Jiggetts (Linwood) and Clarence "Don" Morgan (Willette); four grandchildren: Whitney Shaw, Kyah Tucker, Kourtney Tucker, James Tucker Jr (Rochelle) and a beloved “special granddaughter,” Shamia Morgan; one uncle and three aunts: Evan Bolling, Ida Lambert, Dorothy Powell and Fannie Johnson; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law from marriage, James Henry Tucker (Elizabeth), Cloyd Tucker (Inez), Shirley Hardy (Robert) and Mae Tucker as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly, among them, her "bingo buddies:" Linda, Louise and Janet.

As you go forward taking your own special memories of Grace Ann, take comfort in knowing she has travelled the last mile of the way and has now found rest.

Sleep well, Ann: we love you but God loves you best.
For remember, nothing loved is ever lost.
