Obituary for Gloria Jean Evans
Gloria “Jean” Jefferson Evans was born on Saturday, November 1, 1952, to the late Clarence & Alice Jefferson of Wilson, VA. (Clark Bottom) She departed this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Jean was baptized at an early age at the Jerusalem Baptist Church. There, she sang on the Senior Choir and served on the Beautification Committee.
She attended Nottoway Public Schools. She received her CNA Certificate at the Burke Nursing School. She had a love for flowers and decoration.
Her brother Clyde Jerome Jefferson preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her fond memories her husband Meriwether Evans of Blackstone; son: Curtis (Stephanie) Jefferson of Blackstone; two grandsons: Devonne Lewis and Kurtis Keshawn Jefferson of Emporia; three sisters: Frances “Maxine” (William) Royal of Amelia, Diana Jefferson of Blackstone, Cynthia (Nelson) Evans of Richmond; one brother: Clinton (Lena) Jefferson of Kenbridge; six aunts: Adell Goodson of Chester, Lillie Mae (Robert) Edmonds of Blackstone, Patricia Ann Clark of Wilson, Sallie McGee of Amelia, Geraldine Dilworth of Baltimore, MD, and Edith Jefferson of North Carolina; two uncles: Carlton Clark of Wilson and Robert (Pinkie) Jefferson of Blackstone; one mother-in-law: Deacon Thelma Walker; three Godchildren: Sherlisa Vaughan of Wilson, Therman Clark, Jr. and Tiona Clark of Amelia and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Service Monday, January 3, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment private.
