Obituary for Gladys Marie Clements
Gladys Marie Clements, daughter of the late Matthew and Carrie Ruffin began her life journey on April 29, 1937 and was called to reward on July 13, 2020. she was born, raised and educated in Amelia County, Virginia.
She accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Flower Hill Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Board and sang in the choir, serving faithfully until her health declined.
Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was an avid homemaker. Her favorite past times were singing and playing the piano, cooking and going to bingo with her sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Clements, Sr.; two grandsons, Richard Leon Patrick Jr., and Daniel Clements Patrick; four sisters, Josephine Anderson, Ophelia Robinson, Eleanor Lewis and Ercelle Ruffin.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Lorraine Doris Patrick; a son, William Sonny Clements, Jr. (Shauna); three grandsons, Richard Leon Patrick, III, William Sonny Clements, III and Letrell Dejon Whitehurst; one great grandson, Richard Leon Patrick, IV; four sisters, Alease Murray (Benjamin), Catherine Epps, Fannie Mae Carey and Patricia Ruffin; two brothers, Matthew Ruffin (Gloria) and Andrew Ruffin (Evelyn); two brothers-in-law, Alaska Clements and Charlie Clements; three sisters-in-law, Queen Reed (Robert), Katherine Chestnut and Matlida Clements; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside Services Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Flower Hill Baptist Church, Amelia.
