Obituary for Gladys Louise Shelton
God called one of his angels GLADYS LOUISE SHELTON of Ford, VA, 92 home on Friday, September 25, 2020, at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, VA. Gladys, better known as Louise, was a native of Amelia, VA. She was born on August 8, 1928, in Amelia to the late Robert Lee Harris and Estella Robertson Harris.

Louise accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Baptist Church, Church Road, VA. She was a member of the Usher Board at Union Baptist Church, Assistant Secretary of the Springhill Usher Board, the Captain of the Homecoming Committee for many years and a member of the Jolly Sunshine until her health begin to fail.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Shelton; two sisters, Lillian H. Bates and Helen Pearl Bates and a granddaughter, Glenda Valentine. Louise leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted daughter, Viola Catherine Broadnax (John); two grandsons, John L.(Johnny) and Carlton Broadnax; six great grandchildren, Anaiah Broadnax, Karina, and Steven Valentine, Kiwane, Jonathan and Kemonte’ Broadnax; three great-great grandchildren, Kennedi, Khloe and Kendall Broadnax, one brother-in-law, James E. Bates, Jr., Ford, VA.; three nieces, Linda B. Locket (Wayne) of Prince George, Cheryl and Vidette Bates, Richmond, VA; two nephews, Gerald M. Bates of Chesapeake, James Edward Bates (Belinda) of Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.

Louise possessed a rare gift of kindness and understanding. She touched and enriched the lives of all those she met, for this she will always be remembered.

Viewing for Mrs. Shelton Thursday, October 1, 2020 at funeral home from 12pm until 7pm.

Graveside Services Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 3701 Namozine Rd, Church Road, VA.
