Obituary for Gertrude L. Allen
Mrs. Gertrude Louise Allen departed peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Woodlands Rehabilitation Center in Farmville, VA.  Daughter of the late Emmett and Louise Jackson, she was born on March 31, 1921 in Nottoway County, VA.
Mrs. Allen received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church. 
She was united in holy matrimony to Lawrence T. Allen.  They were blessed in the union with ten children.  She was a devoted house wife, mother and grandmother.  She was also a great beautician throughout  several counties.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Lawrence, Jr., Winston and Chambliss.
She leaves to mourn:  four daughters, Virginia Allen, Debra Williams (Roderick), Shelia Bartley (Morris) and Cartreia Wright (Sherman); three sons, Carlton (Mattie), Brightwell and Adolphus (Mary), daughter-in-law, Portia Allen; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; a devoted granddaughter, Eartha D. Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend.
 Funeral Services Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4222 Winningham Rd., Crewe with interment in the Allen Family Cemetery, Crewe.

W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4222 Winningham Rd., Crewe with interment in the Allen Family Cemetery, Crewe.
