Obituary for Gertrude J. Jefferson
Gertrude J. Jefferson of Crewe, VA, beloved mother of six children peacefully passed away in her sleep on Sunday, October 8, 2017.

She was born in Amelia County but moved to Nottoway County in the late fifties. She was the youngest of nine siblings, six brothers and two sisters all of whom preceded her in death.

She worked at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital for twenty-seven years in the laundry department. After some years she became the supervisor. She was a kind and loving person and treated her employees with much respect and was respected in return. As a matter of fact her department got the highest rating of any department ever at the hospital.

She cared for her mother, enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and caring for her family. She was loved by many.

She is preceded in death by two children, Charlie and Judson, but is survived by four children, Frankie (Mageline), Gretchen, Mary and Amy; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Presbyterian Church, Amelia. Interment Allen Memorial Cemetery, Jetersville.
