Obituary for Gerald G. Williams
Gerald Gene Williams transitioned from earth to heaven on Friday, June 28, 2019.  He was born March 26, 1941 in Darlington, South Carolina to Harrison E. and Bannie Capers Williams.

He received his early education at Howard Elementary and in 1962 graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in Columbia,  SC 

Gerald joined the United States Army in 1962. he served 3 tours in Vietnam,  2 tours in Germany and one tour in the Dominican Republic. He received numerous medals and awards during his service to include, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Raphael Xavier Williams; nephew Harrison E. Williams, III; and father-in-law,  James (Jim) Tucker.

He met and married Annie Tucker March 27, 1965, and to this union three children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Annie T. Williams, son, Gerald Gene Williams, II (Michelle), a loving and devoted daughter, Bridgette Renee Booker, all of Blackstone, brother Dr. Harrison E. Williams, Jr. (Mary) of Decatur, GA; mother-in-law, Ernestine Tucker; seven sisters-in-law, Brenda Boykins of Philadelphia, PA, Barbara Jones of Kenbridge, VA, Claudia Kelly, Ruby Love, Tuandra Spratley all of Blackstone, VA, Mary Williams of Decatur, GA and Gladys Williams of Gainesville, GA; seven grandchildren, Dietra (Direk) Hazelwood of Baltimore, MD, Bianca Booker of New York, Kiara Booker, Shakyah Booker, Rashaylah Booker, Raphael Williams, and Markeez Williams of Blackstone; seven great-grandchildren, Lamari, Eric, DaMarley, Journee,  Erin, Jamarii, and Darius, Jr.; a devoted niece, Lisa Williams, of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; several devoted friends, Laura Camp, Peter Boose and Tommy Graham; the special ladies that made OUR journey a pleasant one, Patty Blackwell,  Ernestine Abbott, and Carolyn Booker-Dodson.

Funeral Services Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment private.
