Obituary for George W. Allen, Jr.
George Washington Allen, Jr. was born on December 18, 1941 in Nottoway County, VA to George and Roberta Eppes Allen. He departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.
George was a graduate of Luther H. Foster High School. After serving in the United States Army, he worked for the Ship Yard in Newport News for several years. George later began his career at Richfood and retired after thirty-three years as a supervisor.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Allen.
George loved his large surround sound flat screen where he watched his Dallas Cowboys play during NFL season. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and couldn’t wait until the NFL season started so he could shout and holler and watch my mother pace the floor during the games. He loved music, he knew more about rap and hip hop than his children. He would tell them what was going on in the music industry.
George is remembered for his work and dedication of his services throughout his community.
George is survived by his wife Patricia Minor Allen; two children, Tiffany Allen and Scottie Allen; grandson, Voll Greene; brother, Charles Allen; sister, Alberta Allen; and a host of cousins and friends.
