Obituary for George K. Washington
George Kenneth Washington went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2013 at Heritage Hall Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Blackstone, VA.  He was born to Netha and Isiah Washington on October 23, 1937 in Charleston, SC.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and joined the St. Luke Episcopal Church, Charleston, SC.  He then left Charleston to make a life in New York.  There he met and married Delia Ingram on May 17, 1962.  while living in New York, he held several jobs.  He worked in construction, as a painter, taxicab driver and at a car dealership.
George was a member of the Supreme Grand Lodge of the International Free and Accepted Modern Mason.  He was a member at the Augustus Lodge No. 137, Bronx, NY.
He loved life, his family and friends.  Since his retirement, he enjoyed watching his favorite T.V. shows and doing yard work.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Netha and Isiah Washington, his brother, Eugene Washington and his sister, Nethabelle Hamilton.
He leaves to cherish his memories:  a loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Delia Washington; four daughters, Sandra (Jeffrey) Kelty, Arlean (Charles) Washington, Darlene Washington and Lucille (Louis) Barnes, all of Bronx, NY; thirty-two grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one brother, Reverend James (Ruth) Washington of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sisters, Ruth Green of South Carolina and Amy Brown of Patterson, NJ; two devoted nieces, Otis Mae Smalls of South Carolina and Carolyn McLaurin of Patterson, NJ; three sisters-in-law, Frankie Ingram, Mattie Anderson and Thelma Ingram of Blackstone, VA; two brothers-in-law, Harvey Lee Ingram and Maurice Anderson of Blackstone, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We thank God for allowing us to have you for 75 years.  We knew how much you loved and cared for us.  You are going to be missed so much.  We take comfort in knowing that you have gone home to be with the Lord:  Where God shall wipe away all tears from your eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
