Obituary for George G. Davis
Deacon George Garland Davis, son of the late Richard J. Smith and Mamie E. Davis was born on April 30, 1937 in Ford, Virginia. He made the transition to his new home on March 27, 2018 at his home in Blackstone, Virginia.
George graduated from Southside High School in Dinwiddie, Virginia. T/Sgt. Davis served honorably in the United States Air Force for twenty three years. At an early age he was baptized and joined the Mt. Poole Baptist Church, Ford, Virginia. In 1992, he became a Deacon at Mt. Poole. He served faithfully until his health began to decline. He remained a member until his demise.
On July 6, 1967, George was joined in Holy Matrimony to Nancy Jackson. To this union two sons were born. He was predeceased by eight of his siblings. Namely: Henry, Herbert, James and Lloyd Davis, Mary Perry, Florence Pritchard, Hattie Pritchard and Virginia Gee.
George loved his church, family and friends. He also loved “Pepsi” or “soda pop” as he called it. He was always willing to help those in need.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Nancy of the home; two sons, Gregory Grayson Davis (Kalsha) of Owings Mills, Maryland and Garrick Gerard David (Nicole) of Colonial Heights, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Chakel, Briana, Chadea, Bryce and Avery Davis, Andre’a and Meiki Haskins; two great grandchildren, Chase and Charlie Davis; a sister, Carrie Bland of Petersburg, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be Sunday, April 1, 2018 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Funeral Service Monday, April 2, 2018 at 10:30 am at Mt. Poole Baptist Church, 9515 Baltimore Rd., Ford. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
