Obituary for Fuzz
James Edward Ward, affectionately known as Fuzz, departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Fuzz was the eldest child, born on June 2, 1934, to William & Lucy Ward, who both preceded him in death.
He attended school in Jennings Ordinary. Afterward, he joined the U.S. Army where he was Honorable Discharged in 1957. Later Fuzz gained employment as a heavy equipment operator with Warsinger Construction and Hicks Construction with whom he helped to build the first road to Kings Dominion and Highway 81. His last employer was Garnett Claiborne Construction where he retired.
Fuzz received the Lord at an early age, enjoyed attending church, and was a Trustee for many years. In his spare time, Fuzz loved traveling on bus trips to different states; he used his passport to visit Canada. He loved driving his tractor, gardening, and cutting lumber, and was also a licensed Limo Driver.
James married Thelma Jackson and together they raised one daughter, Rose. His baby sister, Lucy, enjoyed staying the Summer with Fuzz and his family; he taught her how to ride a bike, draw water from a well and pull weeds.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma; his sister, Beatrice Branch; grandson, James Richardson; and son-in-law, Ronnie White.
James leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter, Rose White of Green Bay, VA; three granddaughters, Roxanne Richardson of Texas, Regina Brogden of Farmville, VA and Ronda Lee of Meherrin, VA; a grandson, Ronald Richardson of Green Bay, VA; eleven great grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren; seven sisters, Betty Sue Oliver, Ella Keeton, Catherine Ward, Thomasine Oliver, Shirley (Charles) Bland and Lucy (Kermit) Hawkes all of Crewe, VA and Pastor Elnora Miller of Rice, VA; three brothers, George (Alice) Ward, Robert Ward and Joe (Gwen) Ward all of Crewe, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
