Obituary for Frances Priscilla Jones
FRANCES PRISCILLA JONES was born August 20, 1946, in Amelia, VA, to the late LEWIS “HONK” JONES and FANNIE BEATRICE HAWKES JONES. Frances entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2018.
FRANCES gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the CEDAR HILL BABTIST CHURCH in Blackstone Va.
Frances began her formal education in the Dinwiddie County VA public school system. After the untimely death of her father, the family moved to Blackstone, VA. She graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in Nottoway VA. She continued her formal education by completing the Nurses Aide Program at Southside Vocational School in Crewe, VA.
Shortly thereafter, she moved to Washington DC, where she lived most of her adult life. She worked for the United States Department of Agriculture. She later worked for Prince George’s County Maryland Public School System as a Teachers’ Aide. After being injured on the job she took a early disability retirement.
Frances was a loving, caring, and high spirited person. She loved her children and family very much. She would often make personal sacrifices to help those in need. She also had a very outgoing personality, and made friends and acquaintances easily.
She lived most of her life with various illnesses. She developed childhood asthma and later other illnesses compounded her condition. Often she was in pain but had a warrior spirit and remained a fighting soldier of God throughout it all. Refusing to quit or give up she earned the admiration of others who noticed her determination and will to push forward.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son/daughter Michaelisa LaVada Jones; son Thomas “TJ” Jones; granddaughter London Lowe; brother Lewis Jones of Riverdale, MD; aunt Velma Hawkes of Richmond, VA; and a host of nephews, nieces , cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.
