Obituary for Frances M. Douglas
FRANCES MARION DOUGLAS, daughter of the late Willie Douglas and Mattie Jones Douglas, departed this life on August 2, 2010 at the home of her devoted son Walter.
She attended school in Nottoway County. Frances joined Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church at an early age.
Frances enjoyed the company of her friends and family as they shared much fun and laughter. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone she came in contact with, she had a way of making them laugh. Her favorite saying was, “I’m gonna live til I die”.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Troy, Robert, and Walter Douglas; two sisters, Sarah Smith and Julia Brown.
She leaves to mourn: two devoted sons, Walter Lewis and James Marion (Velma) Douglas of Blackstone, VA; seven grandchildren, Jillian Clark, Samatha Muhammad (Jamal), Marcus Clark (Senitra) of Blackstone, VA, Swanzetta Hicks (Wendell) of Meherrin, VA, Tanya Douglas of Richmond, VA, Jarasha Douglas of Missouri, James Douglas, Jr. of Hawaii; twenty-three great grandchildren; three devoted nieces, Virginia Hall, Edith Harris, and Deborah Whitfield; a devoted cousin, Jerome Fitzgerald; three devoted nephews, Tyrone, Michael, and Benjamin Hall; a devoted great niece, Arlene Horne of Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Viola Douglas of Crewe, VA and Della Douglas of Orlando, FL; three devoted friends, Alice (Moochie) White, Landis Hicks, Jr., and Martha S. Walker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
