Obituary for Fennette J. Tabon
God, in a moment of mercy and compassion, summoned home one of his angels, Fennette Marie Tabon, age 96, on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. She was born on May 1, 1912 in Dinwiddie County to the late Isham C. and Nonie B. Jones. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Spring Hill Baptist Church where she remained active until her health failed. She was a devoted member and active in various ministries. She attended school in Blackstone, VA. In 1934, she married Ellie Hermase Tabon. Out of this union, they were blessed with six children. Fennettee was preceded in death by her husband, Ellie Hermase Tabon; one daughter, Bessie Irene Tabon; one son, Merrill Ellis Tabon; and one grandson, Kevin B. Madison.
Left to celebrate her legacy are four devoted children, Iola T. White (Jasper) and Teliscia T. Parham (Horace), both of Sutherland, VA; Linwood E. Tabon (Maxine) of Avenel, NJ; and Saundra E. Tabon-Washington (Ronald) of Petersburg, VA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Garrett E. Tabon (Teresa) of Prince George, VA; David E. Tabon (Marie) of Avenel, NJ; Tifphani B.M. White of Union City, NJ; and Candace S. Parham of Fairfax, VA; two great-grandchildren, Darin E. Tabon and Donovan E. Tabon, both of Avenel, NJ; one sister, Mrs. Ruth J. Mikeal of Blackstone, VA; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Helen S. Jones of Somerset, NJ: Mrs. Annie Mae Tabon of Blackstone, VA; and Mrs. Lena Tabon of Petersburg, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Fennette was an example of faith through her daily living. She faithfully read the Bible and lived by its principles. Not only was her faith strong, but she was able to inspire those around her to believe in the power of faith. Whenever you left her presence, she would say, “Put God first”. She loved her church, her family, and friends. Fennette’s down home style of cooking was enjoyed by so many of her family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Scrabble with her sisters. She was a true servant of God and worked diligently in the Spring Hill Baptist Church in many capacities.
Funeral Services Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Spring Hill Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
