Obituary for Fannie Lee Woodson
FANNIE LEE WOODSON, affectionately known as “Sugar Mama” at DaVita where she went faithfully for dialysis, was called to eternal rest at her home on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the age of 84.
Fannie was born to the late Gilliam Anderson and Sarah Mitchell Woodson of Crewe, VA. She received her education in the Nottoway County Public Schools.
At a young age, Fannie accepted Christ and joined the Cellar Creek Baptist Church where she attended until her health failed her.
During her journey, she also lived in Stanford, CT. She did domestic work and loved to cook, which lead her to employment in several restaurants. Her favorite hymn was “Rough Side of the Mountain”. Fannie enjoyed her life with her family. She brought joy and delight to all in her presence.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilliam Jr. and Coleman Woodson and her nieces, Mary Hawkes and Yvonne Woodson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Leslie Woodson of Blackstone, VA; grandchildren, Curtis (Kim) Woodson of Chesterfield, VA and LaKisha Woodson of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Mary Woodson of Blackstone, VA and Christine Christian of Richmond, VA; sister-in-law, Josephine Woodson of Blackstone, VA; niece, Carolyn Woodson of Richmond, VA; nephews, Coleman Woodson, Jr. of Blackstone, VA and Andrew (Joyce) Woodson of Alexandria, VA; great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends, among them devoted Gloria Woodson Jackson and Wilhelmina Jones.
Funeral Services Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Cellar Creek Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackstone.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of the arrangements.
