At an early age she moved to Brooklyn, New York and found work as a Nanny which afforded her the opportunity to travel with the families to various resorts on Long Island (Hamptons), Rhode Island (Newport) and Connecticut. She went to night school to complete her education
On October 2, 1942 she was joined in holy matrimony to John C. Jones, who preceded her in death. Upon marrying John she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she worked and studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She joined Union Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Baster and Rev. Dobson.
Eva retired from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in 1977 and returned home to care for her parents. She rejoined Mt. Nebo and served faithfully as the Sunday School Musician, Recording Secretary of the Senior Missionary Circle and a Member of the Pastor’s Aide until her health began to fail. She was an avid gardener and lover of nature and music. She enjoyed reading and sharing stories of her life and adventures.
