Obituary for Eugene T. Blackwell
Eugene T. Blackwell, born on July 25, 1943, in Nottoway County, Virginia, entered into eternal rest and peace on December 24, 2015.
Eugene was educated in Nottoway County Public Schools and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as an adult at Springhill Baptist Church. He was blessed with two sets of parents and a loving extended family.
Eugene had a booming voice and a personality to match. He loved getting dressed to the nines, complete with one of his distinctive matching hats.
He valued working hard, but made sure to take time for vacations with his wife to places such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the Bahamas. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends at home with music, food and lots of laughter. Eugene did not mince words and was one to always speak his mind. He was also extremely kind-hearted and well known for his generosity.Â
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Hussie and Sallie Rouse, and Thomas Blackwell, and a sister, Rosalyn Parham.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Joyce Blackwell; three children, Tonya (Todd), Thomas (Angie), and Shirley; stepson, Everett; his mother, Queen Esther Blackwell; six grandchildren, Thomas, Greg, Ceoshay, Queoshay, Anthony and Tavien; two great-grandchildren, Lola and Thomais; five sisters, Dianne Blackwell, Annette Clay (Howard), Mildred Gee (Mike), Renea Blackwell, and Theresa Blackwell; two brothers, Ronnie Blackwell and James Clarke; one uncle, Hollie Blackwell; one aunt, Shirley Holmes, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
