Obituary for Estelle L. Jackson
ESTELLE L. SYDNOR JACKSON was born November 29, 1921 in Halifax, VA to the late Arthur and Berta Davis Sydnor. The Lord called her home on November 19, 2008.
She was baptized at an early age at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Halifax, VA. In 1931 she moved to Nottoway County where she attended Morning Star School. She was a member of Morning Star Church. She was active in her duties for the Lord, always willing to lend a helping hand to any and everyone. Words of wisdom, knowledge and encouragement were offered by her to everyone she met. Her favorite past times were fishing and planting her flowers.
On November 27, 1942 she married Herman Lee Jackson and to this union seven children were born, Lois, Ann, Lillie, Herman, Sylvester, Sherman and Leroy.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillie Mae Miller; five brothers, Howard, Major, Joe, Arthur, and Linwood Sydnor; one sister, Agnes S. Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Herman L. Jackson; two daughters, Lois Odel (Leonard) Coleman of South Carolina, Ann Marie (Russell) Jennings of Burkeville, VA; four sons, Herman M. (Patricia) Jackson, Sylvester N. (Christine) Jackson, Sherman A. Jackson all of Burkeville, VA and Leroy (Doris) Jackson of Nottoway, VA; three brothers, Willie (Sapho) and Edward (Cora) Sydnor of Burkeville, VA and Jessie Sydnor of Bridgeton, NJ; seven sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; six step grandchildren; thirteen step great grandchildren; three aunts; her dearest friends, Lois Goin and David Hampton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, Burkeville with interment in the Jackson Family Cemetery, Burkeville.
