Obituary for Ernestine L. Crews
Ernestine Louise Crews—lovingly known as ‘Stine’ or ‘Aunt Stine’ to many—departed this life for Heaven on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in her Amelia, VA home. She was 83 years old. Ernestine was born to Nannie Lee and Granderson Robinson, on February 21, 1938, at their family home in Amelia, VA.

Ernestine was a longtime, devoted member of Promise Land Baptist Church where she served on various ministries until her health began to fail. She was very fond of her beloved pastors, the Reverend and First Lady Johnson who kept in touch with her regularly. She was also a hard worker and devoted employee for many years. Most recently, she worked as an efficient and meticulous domestic worker who kept in touch with some of her former employers even until her last days.

Ernestine loved spending time with family. She had a loving and giving heart and was always there to support her loved ones in any way that she could.

On September 20, 1980, Ernestine was joined in Holy Matrimony with John Lindsey Crews, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Nannie and Granderson, and a number of siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Lorenzo ‘Bo’ Jefferson; two granddaughters, Lavonia Jefferson and Tenechia Patterson (Drushawn); three great grandchildren, Serenity, Taniya and Tarique Jefferson; siblings, Gracie Butler, William ‘Bo’ Robinson (Becky), Ruth Washington, Louis ‘LV’ Robinson (Ann), Joyce Clay, Jacqueline Perry, Kathleen ‘Boo Boo’ Jones (Bob), and Marian Royal; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including one especially devoted niece, Tiera Owens.
