Obituary for Ernest Clary
Ernest Clary, son of the late Reva Marie (Clary) and Mariott Clary was born October 9, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the oldest of two brothers (Milton and Ulysses) and one sister (Gertrude).
He was raised in North Carolina by a host of close and loving cousins. He completed school through the eleventh grade and joined the United States Army at 17 years old in field of transportation. He completed tours in Germany and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5313.
After military, Ernest was employed as a transit bus driver for the City of Baltimore, a masonry/construction worker in Baltimore, MD, a long-distance truck driver for L & M Express Company in Crewe, VA. After retiring from the trucking company, he worked as a custodial worker under the Green Thumb program for the Nottoway County Public School System.
Ernest married the late Pearl Delores Brown (Clary) in November 1954 in Baltimore, MD and from that union seven children were born. They later made their home in Blackstone, VA.
He leaves to mourn: his children, Tyrone, Debra, Zenobia, twins Ernest (deceased) and Ellen, Brian and Marlon; nine grandchildren, Tyrisha, Faithe, Kenneth, Brittny, Aaron, Danielle, Dominique, Erielle and Donnell; one sister, Gertrude Henderson of Baltimore, MD; one sister-in-law, Helen Ward of Pikesville, MD; one brother-in-law, George Brown of New Mexico; two sons-in-law, Dallas and Donald; a devoted friend, Theresa Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He often liked pulling pranks on people, and was well known for his practical jokes and sense of humor. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He will surely be missed.
