Obituary for Ercelle Ruffin
Ercelle Ruffin, daughter of the late Matthew and Carrie Ruffin, began her lifes’ journey on June 20, 1942 and was called to rest on March 14, 2016. She was born, raised, and educated in Amelia County, Virginia.
She accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Flower Hill Baptist Church. While living in Richmond, Virginia, Ercelle served the Lord at Trinity Baptist Church. Upon moving back to Amelia, Virginia, she continued to worship at Flower Hill Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
Ercelle spent her career serving as a dietician and retired from Johnston-Willis Hospital. Her favorite pastime was going to bingo with her sisters.
Ercelle was preceded in death by three sisters: Josephine Anderson, Ophelia Robinson, and Eleanor Lewis and four nephews: Marvin Robinson, Richard Patrick, Jr., Daniel Patrick, and Jemone “J.T.” Epps.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Barbara Byars (Dallas); a granddaughter, Antonesh Byars; a devoted grandson, Kevin Byars; two great-grandchildren, Leah-Marie Marshall and Kalmari Byars; five sisters, Alease Murray (Benjamin), Gladys Clements, Catherine Epps, Fannie Mae Carey, and Patricia Ruffin; two brothers: Matthew Ruffin (Gloria) and Andrew Ruffin (Evelyn); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Ercelle Ruffin will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Flower Hill Baptist Church, Amelia with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
