Obituary for Emmett N. Robinson
Deacon Emmett Nathaniel Robinson departed his earthly life to be with the Lord on May 21, 2008. He was born to the late Emmett and Rosa Hyde Robinson. He was married to the late Ethel H. Robinson and of this union they were blessed with eight children.
Emmett had a strong work ethic, he worked for the highway department; the Whittington Family and always, always worked in his gardens, which was his passion; he enjoyed canning his fresh vegetables from his own garden.
Deacon Robinson joined Liberty Baptist Church at any early age and served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Choir member, Sexton, Trustee and was always willing to lend a hand in other capacities. He was an inspirational leader to his family and other members of the community. Deacon Robinson served Liberty Baptist Church until his health began to fail in 2006.
Preceding him in death are his sons; Herman, James and Quenton Robinson; and his great-grandson A. Leon Thompson, II.
He leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter Elnora R. Coleman (Rufus); four sons, John, Robert, Ronald (Kimberly); Wayne (Penny) Robinson; three sisters-in-law Cora, Dorothy & Lillian Hicks; two brothers-in-law Calvin Hicks and Alan Washington; one granddaughter, Deborah Coleman; six grandsons, Bobby Jr, Curtis, Darrel, Nathan, Ryan and Justin Robinson. A devoted niece, Dr. Mary Johnson Mills and a host of other nieces, nephews and relatives.
Funeral Services Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia was in charge of the arrangements.
