Obituary for Ellis Booker
Ellis Herbert Booker departed this life on September 6, 2013 at the age of 75. He was born and reared in Amelia, Virginia.
He graduated from Russell Grove High School and attended Virginia Union University.
He was an active member of the Brown Grove Baptist Church, serving as a trustee and faithful member to the Children’s Church Ministry.
Ellis was the owner of Booker’s Exxon for close to 30 years where he met many people and created many long-lasting friendships.
During his illness, he never complained and always remained optimistic.
He is survived by a devoted wife of 48 years, Gloria Hill Booker; 2 daughters, Rosalyn and Theresa; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He was blessed with countless other family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Brown Grove Baptist Church, 12816 Bailey Bridge Road, Midlothian, VA 23112. Â The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The viewing will be held Friday, September 13, 2013 from 12 to 8PM. Visitation is from 6-8PM at the Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home – 15001 Patrick Henry Highway, Amelia, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gloria Booker Scholarship at Bon Secours College of Nursing, 8550 Magellan Parkway, Suite 1100, Richmond, VA 23227.
