Obituary for Ella Mae Booker
God summoned his Angels and they came forth, on the journey back, Ella Mae Booker joined them. Ella Mae affectionately known as “Mae”, departed this life on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at 4:40 a.m. at her residence in Amelia County, Virginia. She was the fifth oldest of thirteen children born to Jack and Pearline Jones, Sr.
Ella Mae attended Russell Grove High School in Amelia, Virginia. She joined Mt. Level Baptist Church at an early age.
Ella Mae was employed by Johnston Willis Hospital for over thirty plus years. Throughout the years she farmed, hauled pulp wood, baby sat, and did housekeeping.
Ella Mae was joined in marriage to Robert Booker, Sr. on April 14, 1962, and this union was blessed with three children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a humble woman that enjoyed outdoors, fishing, cooking, cleaning, and was a people person at all times.
Ella Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Pearline Jones, Sr.; her husband, Robert Booker, Sr.; sisters, Louise, Thelma, Edith and Pearl; brothers, Jack, Jr. and Calvin Jones. She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Robert Jr. (Sharon) and daughters, Hazel Booker and Anna Booker Edmonds all of Amelia, VA; three grandsons, Ronnie Booker, Derek Booker and JayQuan Stokes; one great granddaughter, Tishanda Booker; four great grandsons, Ronnie Jr., TyKwon Scott, Landon Booker and Liam Booker; three adopted great grandchildren, Shelby Dagner, JuVanna White and Delois Booker; four sisters, Julia Stokes (John), devoted of Blackstone, VA, Hattie Hill, Rosa (Joseph) Royal, devoted and Margaret (James) Booker, all of Amelia, VA; three brothers, Frank (Ethel) Jones of Amelia, VA, Thomas (Sarah) Jones of Amelia, VA and James Jones of Dinwiddie, VA; devoted cousin, George Burrell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Amelia. Interment Mt. Level Baptist Church, Amelia.
