Obituary for Elizabeth W. Clarke
Around 6 a.m. on the morning of Monday, November 26 in the quietness of her residence, God summoned our beloved Elizabeth Worsham Clarke, at the marvelous age of 94, from her labor here on this earth to eternal rest. Even though we had some time to prepare for our loss, it’s still difficult to accept when it finally happens.
Elizabeth, affectionately called Aunt Bess was born July 28, 1918 to the late Mary Farley & Luther Worsham in Nottoway County. She was the third of eight children born, and the last to depart this earthly home. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Percy, Jack and George (Bob) Worsham, four sisters; Louise Montague, Ora Clay, Mary Finney, and Annie Laura Crayton; one great-great grandchild Na'Riyah Elliott-Ross.
She attended the Nottoway County Public School System. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal Saviour and became a member of the Manassa Hill Baptist Church, Amelia County Virginia.
She married John Minga Ross Jr. and later divorced. To this union one son was born. She later married Hezeakiah Clarke and another son was born.
She leaves a legacy of precious memories to her two sons, John Ross and Bobby Clarke both of Richmond, VA. eleven grandchildren, one grand-daughter in particular, Sonja Ross, who was her dedicated, loving and personal caregiver for many years, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one sister-in-law, Hattie P. Worsham of Blackstone, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
