Obituary for Elizabeth L. Dance
Early Sunday morning while we were sleeping the LORD called our beloved, Evangelist Elizabeth Lawson Dance home to glory! Elizabeth Dance of Goldsboro, NC and formerly of Blackstone, VA departed this world on August 30th at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born August 13, 1952 in Lunenburg County, Elizabeth attended Lunenburg County Public Schools. She was the daughter of the late Jimmie and Elizabeth Lawson. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Lawson Hayes, and two brothers, Charles and Robert Lawson.
All that knew “Aunt Cootie,” as she was affectionately known, loved her from the start. She had a heart so big that she continuously gave all she had to everyone! She was especially loved by her family church, the Pentecost COGIC, where she served for many years as the Assistant Pastor to Bishop Caliph Coles. It was a glorious day when she answered that calling! In addition, for a few years, she also served as the pastor of the church before moving to Goldsboro, NC
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory, the beloved and devoted husband of 41 years, Johnny Dance, and the two children that was brought by this union. One daughter, Delores Holmes (Danyale) of Goldsboro, NC, and one son, Tyrone Dance of Spartanburg, SC. Five beloved grandchildren: Marquice, Sherrod, Maurice, Aundreas, and Amareion, all of Goldsboro, NC; one great grandchild: Ky'mire Dance of Goldsboro, NC. Five brothers: James, Walter (Anna), and Clarence, all of Baltimore, MD. Willie (Cheryl) and Jimmie (Rosa) of Blackstone, VA. Six sisters: Mollie Coles (Caliph), Rosa Walker (Frank), Marie Oliver (James), Lucy McFarland (Charles), and Gloria Lawson (William) all of Blackstone, VA and Helen Alexander (Richard) of Lawrenceville, VA. Elizabeth also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as her church families at the Pentecost COGIC in Blackstone and the Church of God and True Holiness Church in Goldsboro, NC.
Funeral Services for Evangelist Elizabeth Dance will be Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pentecost Church of God in Christ, Blackstone with interment to follow in the church cemetery, Victoria.
