Obituary for Edna E. Crenshaw
EDNA EVANS CRENSHAW of Blackstone, Virginia, departed this life and surrendered all to our Heavenly Father and Savior Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Her life began, May 23, 1925 in Nottoway County. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Emma Campbell Evans. Edna was the fourth child of ten children.
Edna accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Spring Hill Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and served her church as a dedicated member of the Missionary Circle in which she was a very proud servant of God until her health declined. Edna lived each day through prayer and her strong faith in her Lord and Savior.
Edna was united in Holy Matrimony to (the late) Clinton C. Crenshaw, Sr. She was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother and grandmother who cherished her family in the most heartfelt and sincere manner. Edna enjoyed laughter in joyous occasions, listening to music, helping others and the beauty of flowers and nature. Edna possessed a genuine, giving, and caring spirit that manifested itself continually to the countless people with whom she came in contact.
Edna was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Crenshaw, Jr., but her wonderful and precious memories will always live in the hearts of her son Melvin Evans (Gladys); daughters, Brenda Crenshaw and Cynthia Crenshaw; her sister, Emma Anderson (Thomas); brothers, William Evans and Chester Evans (Barbara); grandchildren, Melvin Evans, Jr. (April), Sentel Crenshaw, and Mark Evans (Andrea); great-grandchildren, Mark, Ja’vion and Olana; sister-in-law, Thelma Evans, a devoted niece, Marie Fitzgerald (Bernard) and caregiver, Zelda Thompson.
