Obituary for Earnestine Carr
Earnestine was born on May 4, 1913 to the late Arthur and Blanche Hanks. She peacefully departed this life on Sunday, September 16, 2007 after a lengthy illness at the Trinity Mission Nursing Home in Farmville, VA. At an early age she was baptized at the Eleven Oaks Baptist Church. Earnestine received her education in the Crewe, Virginia public school system. She later married the late Horace Carr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Herbert Hanks. She moved to Pennsylvania where she was a caregiver. In the 1950’s she returned home to care for her mother and sister, the late Augusta Hanks until their passing. Earnestine was the oldest and spunkiest of her siblings, she was the pillar of the Hanks family. She was known to be straight forward with her thoughts and opinions without compromising her godly virtues. Being a caring and compassionate person, she would often open her home to many in need of housing. Earnestine leaves to mourn her death: her loving and devoted sisters, Corinne Hanks, Annie Allen of Crewe, Virginia and Bessie Hollington and brother-in-law, Abraham Hollington of Charleston, South Carolina; six nieces, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be all day Wednesday, September 19, 2007Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from Eleven Oaks Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Hanks Family Cemetery, Crewe.W.E.
