Obituary for Dorothy E. Craig
Dorothy Elizabeth Williams Craig was born on March 26, 1927 and departed this life on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 9:50 p.m at Brandermill Woods Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice Scott.
Dorothy attended Nottoway Public Schools. She joined Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church at an early age.
Dorothy was united in matrimony to her beloved husband of fifty-three years, David L. Craig, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Ophelia Williams, her brothers, Robert Rice (Bro) and Landus A. Hicks, Sr. (L.A.), but leaves to cherish her loving memory: seventeen children, Mary Lou Morgan of Dundas, VA, Barbara Perry, Patricia Craig, Dorothy Gardner and Sandra Craig of the home, David L, Craig, Jr. (Christine) of Blackstone, VA, William Craig of Virginia Beach, VA, Connie Jefferson and Leonard Craig (Terrie) of Blackstone, VA, Min. Annette Wilson (Larry) of Chesapeake, VA, Malissa Craig of Kenbridge, VA, Carl Craig, Carolyn Williams, Charletha Patterson (Jeffrey) and Frances Williams of Blackstone, VA, Patsy Howard (Charlie) of Ft. Washington, MD and Claudette Steward of South Boston, VA; a loving sister and friend, Grace Epes of Baltimore, MD.  She also leaves a legacy of twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was affectionately know as Big Momma to many, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was fortunate to see five generations of children during her lifetime. She was a huge animal lover and she had chickens, two parrots, geese, cats and a special little dog name Nick. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and a host of relatives.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
