Obituary for Doris Jackson Seay
Doris Jackson Seay joined her eternal God to rest in His everlasting arms on August 21, 2019. She was born on December 1, 1940, in Macon, Georgia to Dave and Gussie Jackson. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Jackson.
Doris received her early education at St. Peter Claver Catholic School, later attended Macon’s Ballard Hudson High School, and graduated in 1959. In 1975, Doris completed training required to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She continued her education, and received a Certificate of Education for early childhood care and education at Georgia Technical College. In 2002, she became a para professional licensed aid.

Doris was baptized at an early age while attending the Greater Turner Tabernacle A.M.E. Church. There she developed her faith in God, which continued throughout her life. Doris was very active and allowed the Lord to use her freely. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Bible Study. She was also an active and dedicated member of the church at Macadonia Baptist Church in Macon, and at First Baptist Church in Atlanta.

In 2007, Doris moved to Virginia and immediately connected with Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Centreville in early 2008. She was a faithful servant as a Sunday School teacher and an usher. In 2014, she joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Blackstone, Virginia, after marrying Richard Seay. She was a dedicated member of the church there as well, serving on the usher board, hospitality ministry, and missionary ministry. Doris was a sweet, loving and caring person who loved the Lord. She also loved her family and truly touched the lives of countless people she met. She was affectionally known as “Momma Doris” or “Momma D” to many.

Those left to cherish the precious memory of Doris include her husband, Richard; daughter, Leta Ross (Jay) of Gainesville, Va.; nephews, David Jackson, Jr. and Thomas Williams of Macon, Ga.; a host of cousins, other “children,” other extended family, and brothers and sisters-in-law in Virginia. Doris also leaves dear friends, including the Bartholomew Family of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the Mt. Olive church family; Emanuel Bible Class of First Baptist in Locust Grove, Ga.; Bible Study Fellowship of Centreville Baptist Church in Virginia; and the Ballard Hudson Class of 1959.

Funeral Services Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at 1:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment Greenview Cemetery.
