Obituary for Donald Lee Witcher
On Wednesday, March 23, 2011, Donald Lee Witcher quietly passed from life at Centra Southside Hospital in Farmville, VA after a short illness.
Donald was born June 19, 1935 to the late Sonny Roy and Thelma Witcher. He was the fourth of ten children. Four preceded him in death, Ben, Robert, Lewis and a sister Fannie.
Donald was educated in the Nottoway County school system. At an early age he was baptized at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He met and married Mary Ella Watson and to this union one daughter was born.
He later moved to Philadelphia where he worked for thirty-five years. While there he met and married Bernice Herder. They were blessed with eight children. After returning to Crewe, he joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: four daughters, Deborah Sheppard, Joy Herder, Tiffany Witcher and Alice Brooks; four sons, Indmy Marcel Welch, Johnny, Arthur (Chante), and Steven (Bernadette); fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Muse, Nettie Jones, Josephine Coleman of Crewe and Annie Williams of Philadelphia; one brother, Alvin Witcher Sr. (Evelyn); three sisters-in-law; a devoted friend, Helen Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
Funeral Services Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Dominion Worship Center, Crewe with interment in the Jackson Cemetery, Crewe.
