Obituary for Dollie Elizabeth Foster
On Sunday morning, February 11, 2018 at Heritage Hall Health Care Rehabilitation Center our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ descended one of His loving angels, to call one of His loving, devoted, faithful, kind and dedicated children home, Dollie Foster. God’s garden must be beautiful because He only takes the best.
Dollie was born on July 16, 1930 to George and Sarah Epes Greene. She was educated in the Nottoway County Schools. Dollie confessed Christ, was baptized and joined Mt. Zion RZUA in Blackstone at an early age.
After her marriage to James Owens Foster, Dollie moved her membership to Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church to be with her husband. She remained a faithful, loyal and dedicated member and was active until her health began to fail. She served in many capacities in the church: the Senior Choir, Missionary Ministry, Pastor’s Aide, Culinary Ministry and was honored as one of the Mothers of the church. She worked for Nottoway County Public Schools as a cafeteria employee for twenty-four years. Dollie was known for her great recipes.
Dollie Elizabeth Foster was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two brothers Willie and Robert Greene; sisters-in-law, Edna Morgan and Doretha Herndon; and her precious daughter-in-law, Joyce A. Foster.
Dollie leaves to treasure fond memories of her: her son James “Jimmy” Foster; grandchildren Michael and Carlton (Amy); great grandchildren Shikirah, Marquell and Michaela; sister Mary Lou Green of Blackstone, VA; sisters-in-law Marjorie Green of Ohio and Melson Johnson of Blackstone, VA; brother-in-law Roy Johnson of Massachusetts; devoted nieces Linda Diane Glover and Joyce Green; devoted cousin G. “Bootsie” Stewart; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends Deacon Peter Young, Delois Fitzgerald, Edith Hughes, Catherine Goode and Alberta Harris.
