Obituary for Devron L. Delaney
On Wednesday, November 7, 2012, God decided to call one of His faithful servants, DEVRON LAMONT DELANEY home to glory. Devron, the first child of four children, was born on August 30, 1967 to Jean C. Delaney and the late George Fowlkes, Jr.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Branches Runn Baptist Church, where he served the Lord until his health began to fail.
On August 12, 1989, he was joined in holy matrimony to Janet Jefferson Delaney.
Devron worked as a highway operator for the Virginia Department of Transportation for five years until he became ill and was forced to retire.
He was known by many people as Monty, Flash, Mr. Monty and Buck. Although his health hindered him in many ways, he never allowed it to define his character. Many would refer to him as a “Jack of all trades” because of his many abilities and his wisdom that he was willing to share with anybody that was willing to listen.
He leaves behind many cherishable memories to: his devoted wife Janet Delaney, daughters Priscilla Delaney and Janee’ Delaney, one granddaughter, Demoni Simone Sheff, one devoted niece Janika Delaney, all of Amelia; his mother, Jean C. Delaney; three brothers, Kevin Delaney (Tammy) of Amelia, Keith Delaney (Asia) of North Carolina and Darryl Ward of Texas; three sisters, Tyrene Delaney of Amelia, Darlene Baker (Wilford) of Crewe and Sabrina Price of Chesterfield; four sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; devoted mother & father-in-law, Thomas and Sadie Jefferson, Jr.; two devoted friends, Alvin Chalkley (Aubu) and Randolph Jackson (Roonie), both of Amelia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Hope Chapel, Amelia with interment in the Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.
Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia in charge of arrangements.
