Derrick Jerome Morgan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, peacefully passed away on April 9, 2024 at Bon Secours Community Hospice House. Born on April 18, 1971, to the late Beatrice Morgan-Campbell and the late Theodore Holmes.
He graduated from Dinwiddie High School in 1990, where he excelled as a two-sport athlete in balketball and baseball. Continuing his love for baseball, Derrick attended Baltimore Community College, wher he further honed his skills on the diamond.
Derrick leaves behind a legacy of love ones and family. He is survived by his wife Tyra Mack and their children: Derrick Jr., Marcus, Taylor and Mia. He was a cherished brother to Merrill, Ricky (Aretha), Dwight (Michelle), Trevell (Channon), Theodore, Jermaine, Veronica (Stanley) and Joyce (Kevin). His mother-in-law Brenda Jordan and grandchildren: Gabriella, Zaden, Maazi, Alivia, Nicolette, Leilani, great aunts Rosa Yates, Clara Palmer. Aunt Earnestine Mallory and a host of nieces and nephews, also mourn his loss.
Known for his affectionate nature and passion for sports, Derrick’s favorite pastimes included watching boxing and cheering on his beloved Denver Broncos. His love for baseball was unwavering, matched only by his dedication to spending quality time with his family and friends.
Though his physical presence may be gone, Derrick’s memory will forever remain a beacon of light in the hearts of those who knew and love him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a pillar of strength, love, and warmth.
Derrick is preceded in death by his grandmother Mattie Mallory, sister Desiree Morgan and brother Glenn Morgan.
