Obituary for Denise H. Tabon
DENISE ANTIONETTE HAWKES TABON quietly entered into the hands of Jesus Christ in the evening hours of October 8, 2012 at Johnston-Willis Hospital, in Richmond, VA. She was born June 25, 1954 to Adolphus and Alice Hawkes. She was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne (2001).
DENISE accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church and was active in the junior choir.
DENISE took great pride and joy in providing services to those in need. She diligently worked at Central State Hospital for over 30 years and continued public service for 16 years at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women in Goochland, VA. Denise spearheaded many events to enrich the lives of those incarcerated.
DENISE was an outgoing and adventurous person easily making life long friends everywhere she went. She loved participating in family events and especially cherished times spent with her grandchildren. In her spare time, she also loved to read.
DENISE worked tirelessly to provide happiness to others and was always ready to call a “good Bingo game.” She viewed life through “rose colored glasses,” working for the better good of those who knew her. Denise was always willing to lend a helping hand and never said “no” to a challenge.
DENISE leaves to cherish her memories: her son, J.T. (Learna); her parents, Adolphus and Alice Hawkes; two sisters, Alicia (Sonny) and Deitra (Kevin); four brothers, Tyrone (Judy), Clifton (Linda), Dennis (Sheila), and Michael (Lynn); four grandchildren, Jayvon, Cierra, Khadijah and Briana; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many devoted friends and relatives.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 12 noon until 8pm.
