Obituary for Delia A. Washington
Mrs. Delia A. Ingram – Washington, daughter of the late Charlie T. Ingram and Sennie Campbell-Ingram. She was born on December 18, 1939 in Nottoway County, VA. She passed away peacefully in her hometown of Blackstone, VA on November 26, 2020.
Delia graduated from Luther H. Foster in 1958. She was baptized at Mount Gazerine Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorship of Rev. J. Megginson. Mrs. Washington held many position at the Church since she returned back home in 1996 after living in Bronx, New York for thirty-six years. She was a member of the Missionary Ministry, Secretary of the Pastor Aid and Deaconess ministry, Assistance Superintendent of Sunday School and Treasurer of The Sunday School Union, Senior Choir President. Mrs. Washington’s favorite activities was going to Church and Sunday School. She also enjoy going to yard sales with her family on Saturday mornings.
Delia worked at Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital in the early 1960’s. She then work at Saint Barnabas Hospital for 31 years until she retired. During that time she was a member of the International Mason and Eastern Star Chapter 268 in Bronx, New York. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, George Kenneth Washington; two daughters, Darleen Washington and Lucille Washington-Barnes; two brothers, Fletcher Timothy Ingram and Harry Ross Ingram.

She leaves to mourn her loss: two daughters, Sandra Kelty (Jeffery) and Arleen Washington, both resides in New York; two sisters, Frankie Ingram and Mattie Anderson; one brother, Harvey Lee Ingram; thirty grandkids, fifty-six great grand kids and three great-great grand kids; also a bunch of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Â
Graveside Services Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone.
