Deacon Deborah Ann Henderson Clarke, daughter of Deacon Charles and Cora Henderson gained her wings on Monday, November 6, 2023.
She received Christ at an early age and was baptized by George Manning at Second Antioch Baptist Church.
Debbie, as we all knew her, was a graduate of Powhatan High School, Class of 1974. She also furthered her education at Virginia Union University’s School of Theology.
Debbie was employed at PMUSA, Spectrum and Sunrise Senior Living. She retired from Powhatan County where she drove the school bus and was a driver, taking students to various schools in Richmond.
Debbie loved her church family, and had a special bond with her Pastor, Reverend Mark Divens, Sr., and First Lady Tina. She held several positions in the church, she served as Deacon, church clerk for many years, sang on several choirs, and was always willing to help out wherever she could. She was a faithful member until her health began to fail.
Debbie was a member of the Easter Star of Powhatan, and served on the Powhatan Rescue Squad for many years. She enjoyed playing softball.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cora Henderson; siblings, Dorothy Henderson, Charles Henderson, Jr., and Robert Henderson, Sr.
Debbie leaves to cherish her loving memories, her devoted husband of seventeen years, Aubrey Clinton Clarke; devoted and loving sister and caretaker, Jacquelyn Gray; two aunts, Hattie Harris and Geneva Henderson; devoted cousins/sisters, Janet Cousins (Frank) and Dorothy Booker (James); devoted cousins/brothers, Larry Jackson, Keith Johnson and Henry Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Loretta Henderson, Evelyn Brown and Amy Henderson; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Clarke and Lawrence Clarke; devoted friends, Connie Banks, Brenda Epps, Linda Harris, Belinda Taylor, Sylvia Donegan and Yvette Welch; devoted caretakers, Cora Bates and Janet Cousins; devoted nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00AM at Second Antioch Baptist Church, Powhatan.
