Obituary for Deaconess Sarah Smith
Deaconess Sarah B. Smith, daughter of the late Johnny and Louise Booth departed this life on Monday morning April 23, 2018. She was born in Amelia County, Virginia on September 28, 1928.
Deaconess Smith graduated from Russel Grove High School. She joined Chester Grove Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her health failed. She enjoyed singing on the choir, telling jokes, and making witty remarks. She was known for her three layered chocolate cake and pies. She was also a devoted member of the Battery Park Senior Women’s Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua G. Smith, four sisters, Alease Cotman, Lucille Vincent, Rolean Wilkerson, Lucy Cotman, two brothers, John Booth and William Montague, and two great-grandchildren, Michele and Sydney Gomez.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons Lanier Smith (Rosa) of Chesterfield, VA; Ruben Smith of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren: Schnel Smith-Gomez (Michael) of Chesterfield, VA, and Brandon Jackson of Richmond, VA; sister Alice Goodman of Amelia, VA, brother-in-law Lee Smith (Eula) of Henrico, VA, sister-in-law Almega Macklin of Henrico, VA, devoted friends Evelyn Richardson and Louise (Cookie) Delaney, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
