Obituary for Deaconess Nancy C. Branch
On Wednesday morning, March 5, 2015 the Lord called our loving mother, grandmother, Nancy Carol Branch home into eternal rest. Nancy was the youngest daughter of seven, born to the late James and Elizabeth Coleman of Milford, VA. Nancy was married to the late Winston John Branch, Sr. To this union eleven children were born. Two preceded her in death, Nancy Marie Crawley and Rosa Denise Branch, one at birth Patray, twin of Patrice, and one son-in-law Joseph Jefferson, Sr.
Deaconess Nancy was a devoted and faithful member of Yielding Zion Baptist Church until her health began to decline. She served on many auxiliaries including President of the Usher Board, President of the Senior Choir, Pastor Aid, Deaconess, Missionary Circle, and many other organizations within the church. Nancy was a woman that wore many hats such as: short-order cook, caregiver and housekeeper. Nancy had a passion for singing the Lord’s praises which she sang on many choirs and groups. She also enjoyed doing hair and outings with her family and friends.
She was known for her motherly instincts and caring for her children, grandchildren, and all those she came in contact with. She had no problem correcting, disciplining and telling you right from wrong.
She leaves to cherish in her loving memory: Mary (King) Davis, Joann Branch, Catherine Oliver, Brenda (William) Harding, Gale Jefferson, Winston Branch Jr., Lionel Branch, and Patrice (Daniel) Elliott; seventeen loving grandchildren; nine precious great grandchildren; a devoted cousin Gloria Frost; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Yielding Zion Baptist Church, Burkeville where the family will visit with friends from 12:00 pm until time of service. Interment First Nottoway Baptist Church Cemetery, Crewe.
