Obituary for Deacon Roy Miller
On August 24, 2021, we were saddened by the sudden transition of our beloved Deacon Roy R. Miller of Rice, VA. He was the 3rd child of John Edd and Sophonia Miller.
Roy received his education through the Prince Edward County School System. He was baptized at an early age and joined the High Bridge Baptist Church, under the leadership of Revered Bailey. Roy enlisted in the Army from 1967 – 1969. He fought in the Vietnam War as the A162 ASLT Helicopter Gunner and received an honorable discharge. Roy was employed at the Stack Pole Company, Inc. as a machine technician. He was later employed at Crewe Transfer Corporation as a truck driver for 20 years. Final employment was at the Lindsay Hardwood Company, as a truck driver, until he retired in 2015.
Roy was also a coach for the Burkeville Allstar Little League.
In 2013 Roy & his wife were the founders of God Harvest Christian Center, located in Crewe, VA.
On March 28th, 1970, Roy married the love of his life, Elnora Marie Ward and with this union they were blessed with two sons. Roy really enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather.
Roy loved raising a garden for himself and all his relatives. Roy had a loving heart. He cared about other people outside of his family. He enjoyed spending time outside tending to his garden, but he most enjoyed the time he spent with his loving wife, traveling, enjoying retirement, and being busy in the ministry.
Roy was his wife’s armor bearer & faithful help mate. Roy was ordained as a deacon at God’s Harvest Church Center and served faithfully. He also was enrolled as a student at International College of Bible Theology held at God’s Harvest Christian Center.
