Obituary for Curtis "PaPa" Paige, Sr.
CURTIS CORNELIUS PAIGE, SR., son of the late Robert Paige, Sr. and Lala Fuller Paige Vaughan was born December 26, 1947 in Nottoway County.
Curtis was baptized and became a member of the Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church in Crewe, VA at an early age and most recently joined the Eleven Oaks Baptist Church in Crewe, VA. He was educated in the Nottoway County Schools and graduated from the Southside Vocational School on January 17, 1969.
On August 22, 1970 Curtis united in Holy Matrimony with Rose Mary Allen and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Melissa and two sons, Curtis Jr. and Torrey.
Curtis was an employee of Carbone of America in Farmville, VA until he became disabled in 2002, for many years he was a long-distance truck driver, but what he enjoyed most was working around home, painting and taking care of his grandchildren.
Curtis was predeceased by three brothers, James, Lloyd and Robert Paige, Jr.; two sisters, Macy Paige Williams and Mary Bradshaw Anderson.
Curtis departed this life on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at MCV Hospital in Richmond, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rose; one daughter, Melissa Nicole Paige; two sons, Curtis Cornelius Paige, Jr. (Terri) and Torrey Allen Paige; three sisters, Gertrude Payne of Meherrin, VA, Lillie Diggs (Glendon) of Burkeville, VA and Shelia Rich (Ernest) of White Plains, NY; one brother, Rudolph Paige (Sonji) of Glen Allen, VA; two stepsisters, Elizabeth Booker and Ruth Terry; two stepbrothers, Walter and George Vaughan; three other sisters-in-law, Priscilla Paige, Sherelle Paige and Ardelia Vaughan; four brothers-in-law, William, John, Preston and Raymond Dickson; eleven grandchildren; five aunts, Shirley Parker, Rosie Benjamin, Lois Reynolds, Corrine Vaughan and Enora Fuller; one uncle, Eddie Branch; mother-in-law, Arlene Motley; stepmother-in-law, Sallie Dickson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Eleven Oaks Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Allen-Williams Family Cemetery, Crewe.
