On Friday, May 15, 2015, Mrs. Cora Bea Bland Ghee departed this life and moved from time into eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Cora Bea Bland Ghee, 76 was born on January 16, 1939 in Blackstone, Virginia to the late Reverend Morris and Idella Bland. She attended Luther H. Foster High School in Crewe, Virginia.
Bea, as so many called her, was a member of Mt. Zion R.Z.U.A. Church in Blackstone, Virginia. She became a member at an early age. She was the President of the Mt. Zion Usher Board where she served for more than 25 years. She was employed with Diemolding for many years and later worked for the Lunenburg County School System. She had a passion for gardening and grew the best watermelons, strawberries and other plants that she would share with anyone. Bea also loved to spend time with her family; especially her sisters. Her sisters would often jokingly call her the newspaper, because she knew all of the current events. For those who knew her well, she was a joy to have in your company. She will truly be missed at all the family events. especially those where we would fry fish and chicken; because no one could d it better than Bea! We thank God for allowing us to have her in our lives.
Cora Beatrice Bland Ghee is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Morris O. Bland, Sr. and Idella Bland; her sister Eva Bland and brother Walter Bland, Sr. She is loved and adored by her husband Carroll M. Gee of 44 years. She leaves to cherish her memories: her son Harvey D. Bland and stepson Earl J. Gee (Karen); six sisters, Virginia L. Tucker (Jessie), Dorothy M. Johnson (Kenneth), Carrie L. Hobbs, Ella Bland, Josephine Baskerville (George), Gloria J. Bland and one brother Morris O. Band, Jr.; stepchildren Sandra G. Davis (Virgil), Carroll M. Gee, Jr. (Linda), Donald J. Gee, Pheobee G. St. Sing (David) and Dwain E. Gee (Loura); seven sisters-in-law, Vera G. Fitzgerald, Hazel G. Jones (George), Edith Gee, Arlene G. Williams (Gene), Barbara G. Henry, Rosa C. Gee and Virginia Gee. three brothers, Calvin Gee (Harriet), Walter D. Gee (Marion) and Harold W. Gee; one devoted aunt, Sarah B. Coleman; 13 step grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews. cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Cora Bea Ghee will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion RZUA Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
