Constance Lee Stith-Fitzgerald, affectionately known as “Pete” was born to the late James and Mary Stith on January 14, 1930. Constance was known for the quilts she loved to make for her family and friends. she was believed to be the hardest working woman in Nottoway County.
Constance gave her life to Christ at the tender age of 14 and joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she was a vigorous and enthusiastic member. Constance was a Sunday School teach for nine years, as well as sang on the senior choir. She was termed “mother of the church” on August 20, 2023, an honorary member of the Nottoway Gospel Ensemble and a member of the Willing Workers club.
Constance received her education within the Nottoway County School system and graduated in 1948. Subsequent to graduation, she was employed by various occupations and retired from Heritage Hall Laundry Department in 1992.
Constance married Eugene Fitzgerald, Sr. in 1950. To this union four daughters, four sons, family and friends, were shared
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Constance Lee Stith-Fitzgerald was called to be with the Lord at the age of 94 in the comfort of HER home.
Constance was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Fitzgerald, Sr., and son Arthur Fitzgerald, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Maxcine Jackson, Teresa Rather, Joyce Coleman (Thomas Sr.), and Sharon Fitzgerald; three sons, Clarence Fitzgerald, Thomas Fitzgerald (Joan), and Eugene Fitzgerald, Jr. (Barbara); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
