Clinton Cordell Hawkes, Sr. was granted his wings on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his home in Blackstone, Virginia. He was born April 10, 1943 to the late Richard and Rosa Mae Hawkes in Dinwiddie County.
At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, Dinwiddie. He attended and received his education in the Dinwiddie County School System.
Clinton was employed with Brown and Williamson for many years, Fort Pickett Water Treatment Plant, and retired from Virginia Department of Transportation, after working twenty years. VDOT was the most favorable employment of all.
Clinton was a member of the Welcome Inn Social Club for over twenty years. He enjoyed gardening and raising pigs.
Clinton was married to the late Annette Edmonds Hawkes.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Sharon Hawkes, two sons, Clinton Hawkes, Jr. and Keith Hawkes (Wanda), all of Blackstone, Virginia; two grandchildren, Quaman Hawkes (LaKieta) and DeAundra Morris (Robbie); three great grandchildren, Makenzie, Kairo and Kaiden; acknowledging expecting great granddaughter Scarlett; one brother, Ernest Hawkes of Blackstone, Virginia; one aunt, Gloserine Bradsher of Maryland; five sisters-in-law, Juanita Hawkes, Kathy Hawkes, both of Dinwiddie County, Margie Mitchell, Patsy Woodley, both of Blackstone, Virginia, Carrie Hawkes of Hopewell, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Robert Edmonds (Lillie Mae); and a host of cousins, nieces and friends.
