Obituary for Claude Pegram
Claude was peacefully called home on Friday afternoon, February 28, 2020, at Johnston-Willis Medical Center. Son of the late Pattie Pegram, he was born on February 1, 1943.

Claude attended Rocky Hill School in the Scott’s Fork community. He later in life joined Promise Land Baptist Church where he was a faith member. He was a Trustee and a former member of the Male Chorus. He also attended the New Life Christian Community Outreach Program in Crewe, VA and was recognized for Service of Appreciation in October of 2016. He will be truly missed by the ladies at Promise Land for helping them down the steps.

Claude in his younger years worked for Southern Railroad unloading box cars. He was later employed at Allegheny Warehouse and Company where he retired after twenty years. He enjoyed watching westerns and working with numbers. He could tell you anything about the numbers that were on the train and the meaning. He was a soft spoken person, whenever asked how you’re doing, he would say, “Everything is Going to be Alright” or “I’m Okay”. Whenever he would see some of his friends or fellow co-workers of Allegheny they were recognized by their name initial.

Those to cherish his memory are his devoted cousins, Little Thomas Wade, Samantha Jackson and Charles Taylor; his loving and dedicated caregiver, Mrs. Velma Birdsong; caregiver, Mrs. Helen Royal; care-support, Herbert Butler; barber, Bobby Jones; along with other family and friends.

Funeral Services Saturday, March 7, 2020 a 12:00 p.m. at Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment church cemetery.
