Obituary for Clarence W. Green, Sr.
Clarence Green Sr. passed away on July 30, 2014 at the age of 81 after brief illness.  Clarence was born in Blackstone, VA on March 29, 1933 to his late parents, Hampton Jr. and Gracie Green.

Clarence lived in the Richmond, and was the owner of C.W. Green, General Hauling for over 35 years. He was an active member of Swansboro Baptist Church, where he was a founding member of the Men’s Usher Board, and a dedicated deacon for many years.

Clarence was loved deeply by his large family and was considered the family patriarch for many years.  He will always be remembered for his trademark smile and outgoing personality.  Although he only had four biological children, many of his nieces, nephews, and countless others considered him to be the most important and influential father figure they’ve known.  Every day, he demonstrated the importance of putting God first in your life, as well as the love a husband should have for his wife and how he should cherish her.  He especially showed how a father should take care and provide for his children and family.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie, sons, Lawrence Sr. and Clarence Jr., daughters Grace Massenburg and Ruth, son-in-law, Sean Massenburg, three grandchildren, Lawrence Jr., Chanell and Cherelle Massenburg, grandson-in law to be David Smith; and God daughters Charlette Carter and Tara Warren.  He is further survived by two brothers; Karl Green Sr. of Blackstone, VA, and Henry Green of Newport, News, VA and five sisters; Annie Lucille Jones of Blackstone, VA, Thelma Purcell of Baltimore, MD, Ruth Campbell of Clinton, MD, Joyce Green of Washington, DC and Cordelia Green of Suitland, MD, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hampton Jr. and Larry Green, and five sisters, Minnie Kennedy, Evelyn Scott, Pauline Holliday, Virginia Hardy and Carrie Green.

Clarence left a legacy of joy and laughter and truly embodied the motto:
Love God, Love People, Love Life!
Though gone from our hands, he will forever be in our hearts.
