Clarence received his education from Lunenburg High School and Virginia Union University majoring in Theology. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War Era. He accepted the Lord at an early age under the leadership of Reverend C. H. Rhoade and became a member of Pleasant Oak Baptist Church where he served faithfully. Clarence was joined in marriage to Lelia H. Wynn on September 15, 1957. To this union three children were born, Clarence Jr., Clarissa, and Carlene.
