Obituary for Clara W. Fitzgerald
CLARA FITZGERALD, daughter of the late William and Mary White was born on January 16, 1921 in Nottoway County, Virginia She departed this life at her residence in Burkeville, Virginia.
At an early age she joined the Yielding Zion Baptist Church. She married Joseph Robinson and to this union one son, Joseph Robinson, Jr. was born, they both preceded her in death. She married John Branch and gained two stepchildren, Raymond Branch and Virginia Webster, John and Raymond preceded her in death. While married to John she joined Macedonia Baptist Church. Later in life she married Edward Fitzgerald who preceded her in death.
Once a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Clara became very active in the church and served in various ministries including the choir and the missionary board. In fact she loved singing in the choir so much that she requested to be buried in her choir robe.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Josh, Nathaniel, Daniel, Patty, and Pauline White.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a stepdaughter, Virginia Webster; four grandsons, Victor Jones, Derrick Jones, Nathaniel Robinson and Joseph Barden; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Harris; a brother-in-law, Lonnie Harper; nine nieces, Gladys, Eunice, Vivian, Lois, Carolyn, Silvia, Marie, Geraldine and Ruby; eight nephews, Billy, Ricky, Willie, Thomas, Marcus, Stanley, Mason and Alvin; a special family friend, Sarah McMillan; and a host of cousins, friends and her beloved church family.
Funeral Services Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, Burkeville, VA with interment in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackstone, VA.
