Obituary for Clara L. Randolph

After a long stint of illness, quietly and peacefully on the morning of Friday November 1, a beloved Mother, Stepmother, Grandmother, Great- grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Clara L. Randolph Wall entered eternal life.

Clara was the second of 11 children to Frank T and Susie Bowles Carey. She was born on November 3, 1933, in Amelia, Virginia. It was here she started grade school but completed her education in Bronx, New York.

Clara joined Union Branch Baptist Church in her youth but after migrating to New York she decided the city was the life for her. She worked at The Mount Sinai Hospital, also in the Bronx, as a Ward Clerk until retirement. Later, she relocated to North Carolina until her health began to decline, finally returning to her roots in Amelia to allow family to assist in her care.

Clara was small in stature but was sassy as they came. She loved to dance and was always the life of the party even in her days she spent at Open Arms Adult Services and Amelia Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center as she battled dementia and other health issues. These conditions stripped her of a lot, but she never lost her moves and certainly not her feistiness.

Clara was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Frank Wall Jr., her parents, her grandson, Michael Bowles Jr.; and her brothers, Branch “BC” and Benjamin Carey.

Clara leaves to cherish precious memories her son, Michael Bowles Sr. (Stephanie); step-daughters, Laquita Alford (James), Angel Wright (Karl) and Tara Wall; step-son, Byron McBee; her granddaughters, Margo Bowles and Chazmen Tate ; her grandsons, Tristan Alford, Jermaine McBee and Devarius Parker; a host great-grandchildren; brothers, James Bowles (Cessie), Harvey (Minnie), John (Rev. Pearl), and Clarence Carey (Brenda); sisters, Doris Mondrey (Edward), Carrie Mondrey, Viola Pegram, Joan Macklin and Chermaine Booker; a host of nieces and nephews, one devoted, Tongula Mondrey; a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and sister-in law, Hattie Carey.
