Obituary for Christine M. Coleman
CHRISTINE MITCHELL COLEMAN of Richmond, Virginia peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 3rd, 2010, at the age of 81. She was born on February 19, 1929, the daughter of the late Charlie and Caledonia Mitchell.
She graduated from Russell Grove High School in 1946. She worked diligently for many years to support her children and was a dedicated child provider.
Christine joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She was also an active member of several community organizations to include: the Lancers Social Club, Richmond Community Action Program, Southern Tip of Highland Park Advisory Council, the United Order of Easter Star and an honorary member of the Outreach Ministry Choir.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Cornelius Coleman; her sisters, Fannie Henderson, Mable Henderson, and Catherine Nash; her brother, Charles Mitchell. She leaves to cherish her memories: her brother, Alvah “Bootsie” (Linda) Mitchell; her daughters, Yvonne Harris, Carolyn Ruffin, and Cornelia (Wayne) Turner; grandchildren; great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; a devoted friend, Sarah Gaines; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home
Funeral Services Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
